582 God’s word
Unless we remove water everyday
Stagnant water will become foul
If I don’t listen each day your words
My heart too will become like a stone
Without the fresh flow of water
Collected water will also become dry
Without receiving God’s grace
Our heart too will become discouraged
Come unto the living water
And drink to quench the thirst
If you want to live alive everyday
Cling to God’s feet
Depending upon one’s own intellect
And doing many arguments
In order to parade your intellect
You can do thousands of debate
Yet to have clarity in mind
And for the love to over flow in it
To live for others’ welfare
Reach his feet to have a proper heart

For me there is no substitute for the Word of God. Though I have several issues with it and cannot understand it completely, yet without the Word of God, I cannot continue to enhance my bhakti. Of course I read every day the Word of God and I become familiar with it. But I become familiar with so many other things in life. I have to live with the same kind of people, same kind of routine etc. But for me the Word of God is like a spring which supplies fresh water so that it will become useful to me and others. Otherwise my life will become rotten like stagnant water which will become a breeding ground for all kinds of harmful insects.
582 இறைவனின் வார்த்தை
இரைத்து நிதமும் பாய்க்காவிட்டால்
நிலையான நீரும் நாறிவிடும்
நித்தமும் உன்வார்த்தை கேட்காவிட்டால்
நெஞ்சமும் கல்லாய்த்தான் மாறிவிடும்
தேங்கிய நீரும் வற்றிவிடும்
நீரின் வரவு இல்லையென்றால்
மனமும் நிச்சயம் சோர்ந்துவிடும்
இறைவன் அருளும் இல்லையென்றால்
ஜீவ நீரிடம் வந்திடுவீர்
தாகம் நீங்கிடப் பருகிடுவீர்
ஜீவனோடு தினம் வாழவேண்டின்
இறைவனின் திருவடி பற்றிடுவீர்
சொந்த புத்தியைச் சார்ந்திருந்து
சிலபல வாதங்கள் செய்திருந்து
அறிவின் மேன்மையை வெளிக்காட்ட
ஆயிரம் தர்க்கங்கள் செய்திடலாம்
ஆயினும் உள்ளம் தெளிவடைய
அதனுள் அன்பு பெருகியோட
அடுத்தவர் நலமெண்ணி வாழ்ந்திருக்க
அண்டுவீர் அவனடி மனம்சிறக்க
