719 Beyond senses
All the emotions that come in our body
Will soon disappear after remaining for short time
Similarly the sensation that comes in our heart
Will go away as soon as it appeared
But the experience that we gain through them
How far true, how do we know?
But the bliss that you give through them
How can I measure it?
Tears might come automatically
The hands might fold as usual
The mouth opening itself, O charitable one
Can sing your praises
But how can I say, O my Lord
That this a kind of experience
How is it possible for me to utter
That noble blissful state
One should go beyond the senses
Along with buddhi mind also should remain calm
Though I do not have any experience
My spirit could realize it
There is no means to share
To express that condition
There is no need
For others to understand it
I will say that this is not the failure of language
Also not a defeat of the heart
When I seek you with some need
Knowing my need you will come and give

As I began to read a book on Theologies of Emotions (Michelle Voss Roberts, Tastes of the Divine: Hindu and Christian Theologies of Emotion, New York, Fordham University Press, 2014] I began to think about my own experience with emotions and theology. I know for sure that it is not sensation or mere emotion with some physical responses like tears coming, hair standing for few seconds. But I cannot set aside them as mere physical response; however weak and temporary they might be. Though we all need to return back to our profanity after some sacred and awe inspiring moments in life, what the atman realizes and the inner being tries to expresses it is beyond human understanding and communication.
Though I already quoted in the song 716, it is worth to read it again here:
If religion refers to the experience of the sacred it follows that it is related to the experience of a revelation which need not necessarily fall within the binding framework of dogma and organized religion. The experience of the sacred is one of its own kinds. It is lost when identified with this or that conceptualized deity. No one can be taught it nor can it be explained to anyone who has not known it. That what it reveals for the person struck by it, is the only valid revelation of reality. The experience of the sacred is related to the ideas of being, meaning truth. Its experience unfolds a dimension not apprehended by theoretical reflection alone. 719 புலன்களுக்கு அப்பால்
உடலில் தோன்றும் உணர்வுகள் எல்லாம்
ஒருசில நொடிகள் இருந்தபின் மறையும்
உள்ளத்தில் தோன்றும் உணர்ச்சியும் கூட
அதுபோல் தோன்றி தன்போல் மறையும்
இவற்றின் மூலம் தோன்றும் அனுபவம்
எதுவரை உண்மை எப்படித் தெரியும்
இவற்றைக் கொண்டு நீதரும் பரவசம்
எப்படி என்னால் அளக்க முடியும்
கண்ணீர் தன்போல் வந்திடக் கூடும்
கரங்களும் தமபோல் குவிந்திடக் கூடும்
வாயும் மனதும் வாழ்த்தியே பாடி
வள்ளலே உன்னைப் போற்றவும் கூடும்
ஆயினும் இவையே அனுபவ நிலையென
ஐயனே எப்படி நான்சொல்லக் கூடும்
அந்த உன்னத பரவச நிலையை
எடுத்துச் சொல்ல எப்படிக் கூடும்
புலன்களைக் கடந்து போக வேண்டும்
புத்தியும் மனதும் ஓய்ந்திட வேண்டும்
எவ்வித உணர்வும் அற்ற போதும்
என்னுயிர் மட்டும் புரிந்திடக் கூடும்
புரிந்த அந்த நிலையைக் கூற
புவியில் எந்த வழியும் இல்லை
பிறரும் அதனைப் புரிந்து கொள்ளத்
தேவை இங்கு ஏதும் இல்லை
மொழியின் தோல்வி இல்லை என்பேன்
மனதின் தோல்வி இல்லை சொன்னேன்
தேவை கொண்டு தேடும் போது
தேடி வந்து தருவாய் என்பேன்
