  1. Mukti

 

The mukti that you give is eternal one

Where life will become complete

Nothing will remain incomplete there

There will be no lack of your grace.

 

It is not a place to go after our death

It is not a status without having any meaning

It is a position which you will bestow upon us.

In order to live with you always

 

The world will be renewed again

The relationship will become noble one

But the relationship which we have now with you

Also will continue there.

 

There will be clear understanding about the fullness of mukti

The nature of mukti will become very clear

The journey of bhakti will continue there

The life as a bhakta will become permanent

 

I received that noble statues here itself

I will continue to travel in it

Rising after my death

I will live permanently in it.

My understanding of mukti is that it begins here in earthly life and will continue in the New Heaven and New Earth.  It will be an amplified version of my life as a bhakta here.  If we cannot understand and experience that mukti here on this earthly life, there is not point of receiving it only after our death.  Not only we will receive a glorious body but also a glorious relationship with each other where all kinds of private and personal rights will disappear. And what would be that life other than enjoying the life of a bhakta here?  So my journey as a bhakta will continue, though I might miss my Tamil and writing new songs?

 

Who knows, as claimed by many Tamil Christians@ and even Tamil fanatics (Junior Vikatan, Tamil, 28-12-14, p. 24-25), that Tamil is the origin of every other language (what a claim!); Tamil will be the only language in the New earth too.  So I might have the opportunity to write new poems and come prepared to listen, sing and enjoy.  Don’t worry.  The moment when we will be transformed all will automatically speak Tamil—if not, thank God NOT ENGLISH.  So you need not worry about learning it here or there!!!

@ Some Tamil Christians claim that Adam was a Tamilian.  Then Tamil alone could be the only heavenly language which will be there in New earth too?!? [This is a joke]

 

Comments:

As I was reading J. H. Wright, The God I Don’t Understand, Zondervan, Michigan, 2008, his thought that mukti is not going to a temporary heaven but coming back to the New earth, I wrote this song.  The points that I give from this book is bit long, but worth reading.  Tom Wright’s commentary on New Testament echoes similar thoughts which I am giving further below (London, SPCK (2004), Indian Edition, Delhi, ISPCK, 2015):

…Look again at the wonderful picture in Revelation 21-22.  It says nothing about us going off to heaven or to anywhere else at all.  Rather, it shows us God coming down to earth, transforming the whole creation into the new heaven and new earth that he had promised in Isaiah 65:17, and then living here with us—on earth.

In other words, the Bible’s last great vision is not of us going “up” there (to heaven), but of God coming “down” here (to earth)…..— J. H. Wright, The God I Don’t Understand, Zondervan, Michigan, 2008, p. 194

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away” (Rev. 21:1).

…So the scope of God’s redeeming work is as vast as the whole universe he created.  It is also a way of telling us clearly that although we are heading for a new reality, it is not a fundamentally different reality.  We are not leaving the created order for some other “spiritual” order.  Rather, we will be leaving the old sinful order of things and will find ourselves in a renewed, restored, redeemed creation.  But it is still “heaven and earth,” not “heaven instead of earth”.  To repeat, the Bible does not promise us that someday we can leave the earth and “go to heaven” instead. Rather, it promises us a whole new creation that includes the earth.—ibid. p. 195

…The new creation will somehow—in ways only God can imagine and plan for—include all that we have accomplished by our work in this creation.  Purged and redeemed, yes. Freed from all accretions of greed and guilt, of violence and covetousness, of deceit and pride, yes. But not obliterated and forgotten forever.

In my view, this gives great value and significance to the ordinary world of everyday life and work.  It is not merely a temporary and disposable arena for evangelizing souls.  Please do not misunderstand me.  The workplace is every Christian’s mission field, and our witness to the lordship of Christ and the truth and ethic of the gospel must govern the way we function there.  But when some Christian preachers say that the only reason Christians have for going to work during the week is to evangelize and that nothing else they do counts for anything, I long to challenge their unbiblical dualism and their woefully inadequate doctrines of creation, humanity, and eschatology!—ibid. p. 220

All  our behaviour now must be governed by the standards of the new creation.  The thrust of New Testament ethics is that we are called to live now in the light of the future, by the standards of the kingdom of God, which has already invaded this world through the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, but will eventually be established fully in the age to come.  This produces the familiar tension that all Christians experience between the standards of the kingdom of God and the realities of the present age.  But it is a tension we cannot and should not try to escape.—ibid. p. 220

 

…As with other references to heaven and earth, we shouldn’t imagine he means ‘don’t worry about this life – get ready for the next one.’  ‘Heaven’ here is where God is right now, and where, if you learn to love and serve God right now, you will have treasure in the present, not just in the future.  Of course Jesus (like almost all Jews of his day) believed that after death God would have a wonderful future in store for his faithful people; but they didn’t normally refer to that future as ‘heaven’….— Tom Wright, Matthew for everyone, London, SPCK (2004), Indian Edition, Delhi, ISPCK, 2015, Matthew: 6: 16-24, p. 63

 

…A long Christian tradition, of course, has assumed that he wanted to know how he could be sure of going to heaven when he died, but that wasn’t how he would have put it. God was going to make the whole world a new place; when that happened, you wouldn’t want to be away in a disembodied heaven, but here on earth to enjoy the great blessing.

A further word of explanation is needed here.  When Jesus say ‘You will have treasure in heaven’, he doesn’t mean that the young man must go to heaven to get it; he means that God will keep it stored up for him until the time when, in the Age to Come, all is revealed. The reason you have money in the bank is not so that you can spend it in the bank but so that you can take it out and spend it somewhere else. The reason you have treasure in heaven, God’s storehouse, is so that you can enjoy it in the Age to Come when God brings heaven and earth together at last.  And ‘eternal life’, as most translations put it, doesn’t mean ‘life in a timeless, otherworldly dimension’, but ‘the life of the Age to come’ (the word ‘eternal’ translates a word which means ‘belonging to the Age’).—ibid.  Mark for Everyone, 10. 17-31, p. 135

 

… ‘earth’ in the Bible really means the entire cosmos of space, time and matter….—ibid. Acts for everyone, Part One, 1.9-14,p. 11

 

… The reality is this: ‘heaven’ in the Bible is God’s space, and ‘earth’ is our space. ‘Heaven’ isn’t just ‘the happy place where god’s people go when they die’, and it certainly isn’t our ‘home’ if by that you mean (as some Christians, sadly, have meant) that our eventual destiny is to leave ‘earth’ altogether and go to ‘heaven’ instead.  God’s plan, as we see again and again in the Bible, is for ‘new heavens and new earth’, and for them to be joined together in that renewal once and for all.  ‘Heaven’ may well be our temporary home, after this present life; but the whole new world, united and transformed, is our eventual destination.—Acts for Everyone, Part One, 1.9-14, p. 12

 

What we are witnessing, in this passage, is the beginning of the Christian theme called ‘salvation’.  It isn’t simply about ‘going to heaven’, though of course it includes the promise, not only of heaven after death but, beyond that, of resurrection into God’s new creation.  ‘Salvation’ is therefore pointing towards a very concrete and particular reality in the future. If God’s ultimate intention was to ‘save’ only disembodied ‘souls’, that wouldn’t be rescue from death. It would simply allow the death of the body to have the last word.  ‘Salvation’ regularly refers constantly, not least in Luke and Acts, to specific acts of ‘rescue’ within the present life: being ‘saved’ from this potential disaster, here and now.—ibid. Acts, 2.37-41. p.43

 

…as we have seen, ‘salvation’ in the ancient world didn’t mean ‘going to heaven when you die’, and that is by no means how the New Testament writers use it. Jesus himself frequently speaks of someone being ‘saved’ when he means ‘healed’ (e.g. Luke 8.48: ‘your faith has saved you’, in other words, ‘has made you well’).  So ‘saved’ meant, simply, ‘rescued’, ‘delivered’ – from what-(p.66)ever problem, be it sickness, financial disaster, personal catastrophe, or anything else, might be threatening.—ibid. Acts, part 2, 16.25-34, pp. 66-67

 

…Heaven, where Jesus is, isn’t another location within our space, but another dimension. The language of ‘descending’ is the risky metaphor – all metaphors are risky when talking of the future – that Paul here chooses….—ibid. Paul for Everyone, 1 Thessalonians, p. 125

நீ தரும் முக்தி நிலையானது

நிறைவான வாழ்க்கை அருளுவது

அறைகுறை என்பது இதில் இல்லை

உன்னருளுக்கு என்றும் குறையில்லை

 

இறந்தபின் போகும் இடமல்ல அது

ஏதுமே புரியா நிலையல்ல அது

உன்னுடன் நிலைத்து வாழ்ந்திடவே

நீதரும் நிலையான பேறு அது

 

உலகம் புதிதாய் மாறிவிடும்

உறவுகள் உன்னத மாகிவிடும்

உன்னுடன் உள்ள உறவுமட்டும்

இங்குபோல் அங்கும் தொடர்ந்துவிடும்

 

முக்தியின் முழுமை புரிந்துவிடும்
